Han-Wen Yu, Piano
Biography
Han-Wen Yu was a semi-finalist in two World Federation of International Music Competitions, and was awarded the 2013 Collaborative Piano Fellowship from the Music Academy of the West in the US. She recently took 1st prize in the Clara Schumann Duo Competition in Leipzig, with violist Seungwon Lee and soprano Chueh-Yu Lai. In 2012, she took 2nd prize in the 22nd annual Young Musicians International Competition “Citta di Barletta”, duo division, with flutist Alicia Mielke in Italy.
An active pianist, Ms. Yu has performed throughout the US, Taiwan, Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland and France. Her collaboration with violinist Zhang Jing and Mayumi Kanagawa was aired on National Public Radio’s Performance Today and America’s Music Festivals.
A native of Taichung, Taiwan, Ms. Yu earned a Bachelor of Music in piano performance from the Tunghai University (Taiwan), where she graduated with the highest honors, and a Master of Music degree in Collaborative Piano from the New England Conservatory. She is currently pursuing doctoral studies in the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy”. She had served as staff pianist at the New England Conservatory, MIT, and the 2012 Foulger International Music Festival.
