Biography
A top prize winner of the World Federation of International Music Competitions, Jingjing Wang made his concert debut in the legendary Shanghai Concert Hall at age 18. He has given numerous recitals in the United States, France, Spain, Andorra, Russia, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Panama, Colombia and the Canary Islands, in addition to his many appearances in his native country. His performances have taken him to the Concert Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, Town Hall in New York City, the National Theater in Panama City, Palau de la Musica in Barcelona, concert halls in France and Italy, and major venues in China.
In 2000, Mr. Wang was a prize winner in both the Shanghai-Osaka Youth Piano Competition and TOYAMA Asia Piano Competition in Shanghai. During the summer of 2006 and 2009, Mr. Wang made his critically acclaimed debuts at the International Piano Festivals held in Spain and the Canary Islands, and in 2007, made his first New York appearance at the International Keyboard Institute and Festival. A year later, he was selected by famous New York critic David Dubal to perform in his lecture concert series, broadcast live on WQXR.
In 2008, Mr. Wang won top prizes in the Panama and Poulenc International Piano Competitions, which led him to concert tours in Spain, France, Panama and Colombia. In 2009, Wang won the Kankakee Symphony Orchestra's Young Artist Competition and later played the Ravel Concerto in G with the Orchestra. That same year, Mr. Wang performed in the prestigious George Enescu International Music Festival in Bucharest.
In 2010, he made his concerto and recital debuts in Colombia and the Republic of Panama, and won the University of Illinois Concerto Competition, performing Prokofiev’s Second Piano Concerto at the Krannert Center of the Performing Arts. Also in 2010, he was selected to participate in the prestigious Gilmore International Keyboard Festival.
Besides his frequent solo appearances, he has been an active collaborative chamber musician, including a Netherlands tour with a string quartet. He has received chamber music coaching from Menahem Pressler and Shmuel Ashkenasi.
Mr. Wang completed a master’s degree in piano performance at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University on full scholarship, studying with Dr. Solomon Mikowsky. Since then, he completed a professional studies certificate at the Manhattan School of Music, also with a full scholarship under Dr. Mikowsky. He is currently pursuing his doctoral of musical arts degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with a full scholarship under the direction of Dr. William Heiles.
