David Sampson wrote Entrance as a thank you gift for the American Brass Quintet.The work was originally titled Exit and intended to be an encore but the ABQ found it worked better as an opening work.Mr. Sampson writes about the work, “Beginning with a pleasant introduction reminiscent of Collier Jones [another composer for brass quintet], Entrance gives way to comic exuberance, and after nearly losing control, rights itself with a final flourish.”The Gaudete Brass Quintet
