Adam Nielsen, Piano
Biography
During the 2012/13 season, pianist Adam Nielsen’s performances with the Juilliard Opera were praised as “a technically assured and highly expressive account of the score” (Musical America) and “deftly and sensitively played” (The New York Times). Recent engagements include performances with soprano Claire de Sevigne at the Aspen Festival’s Harris Hall Chamber Music Series, and performances with baritone John Brancy at the Musée de Beaux Arts in Montreal.
In 2010/11, Adam was an official accompanist for the Marilyn Horne Foundation master classes at Carnegie Hall, and joined the Heifetz String Institute on tour with concerts in New York City, Baltimore, and Washington D.C. Other engagements included Prokofiev’s Third Piano Concerto with the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra, and solo recitals in Nantucket, Long Island, and Utah. He was also a resident pianist at the Steans Institute of the Ravinia Festival. He has been presented in recital at Alice Tully Hall, Steinway Hall, the 92nd Street Y, Symphony Space, and the Russian Embassy in Washington D.C. He performs frequently with Mezzo-Soprano Tamara Mumford.
He is currently an Associate Coach and Assistant Conductor for the Marcus Institute of Vocal Arts at the Juilliard School, and has been a Senior Coach and Conductor for Aspen Opera Theater.
