Biography
Pianist Alex Alguacil is one of the most outstanding pianists of his generation. A native of Barcelona, he has performed in major concert halls in Spain, the United States, and Japan. He has made a name performing the music of his own country, but his artistic abilities are able to embrace many other genres and styles. Critics have said of him, "an intelligent musician", a "high-class virtuoso" and a pianist "with a promising success in his future career". His début at Carnegie Hall was praised as "one of the most engaging concerts" of that season, and at his performance with the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra during the 2007 season was hailed as a "powerful and brilliant pianist". Highlights this season include appearances with the Vanocuver Symphony Orchestra in WA, Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra, Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and recitals in Spain at the festivals in Sitges, Cambrils and Sta Cristina d'Aro, and in the United States in Danbury, CT, New York, Chicago and Portland.
