Alexander Sprung, Violin
Biography
Alexander Sprung (born in 1984 in Böblingen) started his violin lessons with Siegfried H. Pöllmann at the age of five. Later, from 1996 to 2004 he was a student of Ovidiu Abramovici in Korntal near Stuttgart. He then studied with Miriam Fried, first at Indiana University in Bloomington, and from 2007 at the New England Conservatory in Boston, where in May 2008 he received a Bachelor of Music. Since October 2008, he studied with Antje Weithaas at the Hochschule fur Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin. Alexander also attended a number of master classes, including those with Viktor Pikaisen, Zakhar Bron, and Shlomo Mintz.
Alexander successfully participated in numerous national and international competitions, both as a soloist and ensemble player. For his playing with a piano trio he received the Diethard-Wucher Memorial Prize. He was a special prizewinner of the Classical city of Münster and the WDR, as well as at the Carl Schroeder competition in Sondershausen, and at competitions in Italy and France. In 2006 he won the first Price at the Hellam Young Artists Competition and was invited to play with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra.
