Alexander Wasserman, Piano
Biography
A Native of Oak Park, California, Alexander Wasserman grew up in a musical family and began formal
piano studies with Suzanne Julian. He has been the recipient of many
awards, scholarships and honors, including the University of Southern
California's "Friends of Armenia" music scholarship and winner of the Leni Fe
Bland grant for five consecutive years.
Mr. Wasserman holds a Bachelor of Music degree Cum Laude in piano performance
from the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music, where
his principal instructor was Antoinette Perry, and a Master of Music degree in
piano performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he was a
scholarship student under the instruction of Daniel Shapiro. He was also granted a full scholarship to
study with Yong Hi Moon at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland, where
he earned a Graduate Performance Diploma. He is currently working towards
a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, under
the tutelage of renowned pianist and pedagogue, Antonio Pompa-Baldi.
Mr. Wasserman has attended music festivals including the Aspen
Music Festival and the Orford Arts Centre in Quebec, Canada. As a
recitalist, Mr. Wasserman has played in the United States and Canada to
critical acclaim. Recent and upcoming engagements include performances in
Baltimore, Boston, Cleveland, La Jolla, Los Angeles, Montecito, Santa Barbara, San Diego and San
Francisco. He is also active as a chamber musician, and has been heard on
Los Angeles's classical music station 91.5 FM. As an orchestral soloist,
he has appeared in performances of Liszt and Rachmaninoff, including
performances televised by Adelphia Broadcasting.
