Camerata Chicago, Ensemble
Biography
Camerata Chicago, founded in 2003, by conductor Drostan Hall, brings together some of the best musicians in Chicago to produce one of the finest ensembles of its kind to emerge on the world stage in quite some time. The ensemble is equally at home in intimate settings as well as larger chamber music venues, performing the rich tapestry of diverse repertoire including newly commissioned works. Camerata Chicago stands while playing, heightening the expressive freedom of the musicians, thus intensifying the projection of the music, as well as being visually compelling. Camerata Chicago is now firmly established as one of the finest chamber orchestras and has performed for well-known concert presenters such as Northern Illinois University, Dekalb; College Church, Wheaton and Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. Within a year of its debut the ensemble won a contract with Centaur Records to record music by Stamitz which was released in November of this year. Camerata Chicago makes it home at the Harris Theater, Chicago where it performs regularly.
