Chia-Ching Shen, Piano
Biography
A native of Taiwan, pianist Chia-Ching Shen began her piano studies at age four. She has performed internationally and won many prizes including the 13th International Beethoven Sonata Piano Competition (Memphis), YAMAHA National Piano Competition (Taiwan), the National Taiwan Piano Competition, the Florida State University Chapman Solo Piano Competition honoring an outstanding graduate piano major, the Streem Award at FSU, and a travel grant from the New York Foundation of the Arts.
Ms. Shen received her Doctorate Degree in Piano Performance at Florida State University in 2011. She studied with numerous renowned artists, including Dr. Heidi Louise Williams and Dr. James Nalley at the Florida State University, Prof. Victor Rosenbaum at Mannes College, The New School for Music, and Prof. Mei-Ling Wang at the Taipei National University of the Arts. Her additional studies have included the Vienna International Piano Seminar and the Salzburg International Music Festival in Austria, and the International Keyboard Institute and Festival in New York City.
Chia-Ching Shen has given performances in Europe, Taiwan, and the United States as soloist and collaborative pianist: Vienna, Salzburg, Taipei, New York, Memphis, Fort Lauderdale, Tallahassee, among others.
She has performed in Master Classes for renowned artists including Vladimir Feltsman, Ann Schein, Boris Bloch, Paul Gulda, and Timothy Eddy and Todd Phillips of the Orion String Quartet. She served as a graduate applied piano teaching assistant for three years at the Florida State University. Currently, Ms. Shen teaches at a private piano studio in Queens, New York and serves at Montclair State University as collaborative pianist.
