Claire Bourg, Violin
Biography
Claire Bourg, violin, 21, was born in Chicago, Illinois and began her violin studies at age 5. She is currently a student of Miriam Fried at the New England Conservatory. A laureate of many competitions, she has been a featured soloist with several orchestras performing in such venues as Chicago’s Orchestra Hall and the Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. Claire has appeared on NPR’s From the Top and Chicago’s WFMT Introductions radio programs and has attended the IMS Prussia Cove masterclasses for the past two years under the tutelage of Gerhard Schulz. An avid chamber musician, Claire has attended the Taos School of Music the past two summers where she studied with Robert McDonald, Michael Tree and the Borromeo, Brentano, Miro and Shanghai quartets. She has participated in master classes with the Takacs Quartet, Igor Ozim and James Ehnes, and has received chamber music coaching from Paul Biss, Lawrence Lesser, Natasha Brofsky and Meng-Chieh Liu, among others. Claire is a founding member of “Eureka” a new Boston-based chamber orchestra strongly centered around community outreach and introducing new audiences to classical music in non-traditional settings.
