Clara Osowski, Mezzo-soprano
Biography
Hailed for her "rich and radiant voice" (Milwaukee Urban Dial), Clara Osowskiis an active soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States and Europe.
She was a 2012 Metropolitan Opera National Council Upper-Midwest Regional Finalist, winner of the 2014 Bel Canto Chorus Regional Artists Competition in Milwaukee, runner up in the American Prize for Art Song, and runner-up in the 2016 Schubert Club Bruce P. Carlson Scholarship Competition. Most recognized for her excellence in Lieder, Clara was the only American finalist in the Das Lied competition in Berlin, and was recently a finalist in the 2015 Gerda Lissner Foundation’s Leiderkranz competition in New York City.
Her passion for contemporary music is exhibited in the numerous collaborations with composers writing specifically for her voice, most recently James Kallembach (St. John Passion), Linda Tutas Haugen (Gjendine’s Lullaby) and Kala Pierson (Kein Ende). Highlights in the upcoming season include Dominick Argento’s A few words about Chekhov with the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and J.S. Bach’s Easter Oratorio with Seraphic Fire. In collaboration with pianist Mark Bilyeu and composer Libby Larsen, Ms. Osowski serves as the Associate Artistic Director of Source Song Festival, a week-long art song festival in Minneapolis
