Biography
Recognized for his diverse artistic interests and encompassing musical abilities, pianist Conor Hanickhas given acclaimed solo and chamber music performances around the world and collaborated with music’s most accomplished instrumentalists, conductors, ensembles, and composers.
In performances ranging from the early Baroque to the newly written, Mr. Hanick’s playing has been described as “brilliant,” “astounding,” (New York Times) “expert,” (Philadelphia Inquirer), and “sparkling,” (The Strad) reminding New York Times chief critic Anthony Tommasini of a “young Peter Serkin.” This season’s highlights include recitals with cellist Jay Campbell at the Kennedy Center, Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Italian Academy at Columbia University, and SubCulture; performances of Charles Ives’ Concord Sonata in Iowa, Illinois, New Mexico, and Massachusetts; trio recitals in Albuquerque, Indianapolis, and Princeton; and ensemble collaborations with NOVUS NY, the Metropolis Ensemble, Talea, and the International Contemporary Ensemble.
Mr. Hanick holds music and journalism degrees from Northwestern University, and an M.A. and D.M.A. from The Juilliard School, where he studied with Yoheved Kaplinsky and Matti Raekallio. He produces radio for New York Public Radio’s Q2 Music, and resides with his girlfriend and West Highland Terrier in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York.
