Daniel del Pino, Piano
Biography
In recent years, Daniel del Pino has established himself as one of the leading Spanish concert pianists on the international scene. He has performed on five continents and has been heard in prestigous venues in Europe, Morocco, Jordan, Israel, Palestine, Gabon, Japan, Taiwan, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, and the United States (Carnegie Hall). He has also been soloist with the symphonies of Sevilla, Valencia, Galicia, Malaga, Castilla-Leon, Spanish Radio Television, Federal Way, Garland, Las Colinas, New Arlington, Virtuosi di Praga, Bucharest Philarmonic "George Enescu" (Romania), Brasov, and the Transylvania State Symphony Orchestras among others.
He is a frequent guest at numerous festivals worldwide, including Segovia, Cadaqués, Ayamonte, Alfas del Pi, Itu (Brasil), the Morelia Festival (Mexico), Verbier (Switzerland), Musifleuves, Piano en Saintonge (France), Chamber Music International (Dallas), Newport Music Festival, and the Haifa Chamber Music Society (Israel). He has won several First Prizes at National and International Piano Competitions. His interpretation of Spanish music has received recognition, being awarded many prizes in international piano competitions.
Daniel del Pino was born in Lebanon to Spanish parents. He studied piano at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Musica of Madrid (Spain), Yale University and Southern Methodist University (Dallas) with Peter Frankl and Joaquin Achucarro. He has taught at the Toledo Conservatory in Spain and is currently faculty at Musikene (Superior Conservatory of the Basque Country). He has given masterclasses at the Klagenfurt Masterclass (Austria), Jordan Academy of Music (Jordan), San Esteban de Gormaz (Spain) and the Edward Said National Conservatory of Palestine in Jerusalem, Ramallah and Bethlehem.
His performances have been broadcast by Spanish Public Radio, Spanish Public Television, SWR 2 (Stuttgart, Germany), Morelia (Mexico), Brasov, Bucharest and Cluj Televisions (Romania), WGBH in Boston, Taiwan National Television and Sydney ABC radios. He has recorded the complete Chopin etudes for the label Verso, a CD "Live in Villa San Lorenzo" with double-bassist Alberto Bocini for NBB Records, and the complete Goyescas by Granados for Verso.
During the 2007-2008 season he will perform with the Symphony Orchestras of Winchester (San Jose, CA), Monterey (CA), Beloit-Janesville (WI), Kenosha (WI), Garland, Las Colinas and Arlington (TX).
