Evan Wong, Piano
Biography
Born in Evanston, Illinos, Evan Wong grew up in Taiwan and returned to the States at age 15 to continue his musical studies. He is currently a master’s candidate at Juilliard, studying with Jerome Lowenthal and Matti Raekallio. His past teachers include Meng-Chieh Liu, Russell Sherman, and Wha Kyung Byun. He is a graduate of the Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Massachusetts and New England Conservatory. Evan made his Taiwan National Recital Hall debut in August 2012 and gave several other concerts broadcast on the radio throughout Taiwan. Recent activities and achievements include second prize in the 2013 Jefferson Symphony Young Artists Competition and a recording session with violinist and RSMI alumnus Xiang Yu in St. Paul for Minnesota Public Radio. Having participated in several competitions, Evan is both the 2008 and 2007 Bicardi Fallon Performing Arts Competition’s top prize winner and scholarship recipient.
