Winner of numerous solo and chamber music competitions in Hungary, Austria, Croatia, Italy and USA. Fanny Nemeth started playing the cello at age 9.She made her solo debut with orchestra at age of 12 in Hungary. Ms. Nemeth studied in Hungary, Croatia, Austria and in Switzerland where her teacher was Ivan Monighetti before moving to New York City earning her Bachelor of Music Degree at the Manhattan School of Music as a student of Marta Casals Istomin, David Geber and Julia Lichten.
She earned her Master of Music Degree and Doctor of Musical Arts Degree at the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C in the studio of Michael Mermagen where she worked as his teaching assistant of his as well.
Ms. Nemeth made her Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall debut in 2008, and performed solo and chamber music recitals in France, Germany, and USA in 2009 and 2010. She has performed in Hungary, Croatia, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, Slovenia, Spain, and USA.
Fanny has been an active participant of prestigious festivals and masterclasses with full scholarships and fellowships such as the Perlman Music Program -founded by Itzak Perlman for young artists-, the PMP Chamber Music Program, the Aspen Music Festival and School, The Music Academy of the West, Santa Barbara, California and The Kronberg Cello Academy and Festival, Germany. She is a recipient of scholarships and fellowships from the Catholic University of America USA, La Gesse Foundation Washington D.C., The Hungarian-American Enterprise Scholarship Fund Budapest, Hungary and Manhattan School of Music New York City.
Ms Nemeth participated in cello masterclasses by Bernard Greenhouse, Bonnie Hampton, Eleonore Schoenfeld, Natalia Shahovskaya, Steven Doane, Ron Leonard, Darrett Adkins, Eric Kim, Allen Harris and chamber music masterclasses by Itzhak Perlman, Robert Mann, Nicholas Mann, Zvi Zeitlin, Jerome Lowenthal, Donald Weilerstein, Paul Katz, Peter Salaff, Donald McInnes, Laurence Dutton, Takacs Quartet, American Strings Quartet and Cavani Quartet.
As an avid chamber music player, Fanny collaborated with such artists as Adele Anthony, Paul Kantor, Nancy Allen, Masao Kawasaki, Nadin Asin, Inna Faliks, Catharine Carroll, Virginia Weckstrom, John Zirbel, Bill Jackson, Joaquin Valdepenas.
The highlights of season 2013/2014 include recitals and chamber music performances in the Washington DC area, at the Embassy of Hungary Washington DC, at Carnegie Hall Weill Recital Hall New York, The Kosciuszko Foundation NYC and Washington DC, solo performances with the Woodbridge Chamber Orchestra and the CUA Symphony Orchestra as the winner of the CUA Concerto Competition.
Dr. Nemeth is a dedicated educator, she has been the teaching assistant of the strings department from Fall 2012 at the Catholic University of America.
She was invited to perform and give masterclasses as artist faculty at the Classical Passion Advenced String Traning Program in Harrisburg, PA.
Fanny is dedicated to perform and research repertoire of forgotten or rarely performed pieces and avid performer of contemporary repertoire.
