Violinist Georgy Valtchev has been honored with a number of awards, including the First Prize of the Ducrest International Competition in Lafayette, LA and the Special Prize of the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition in Switzerland. During the 2004/2005 Season Mr. Valtchev appeared as a soloist with the New Symphony Orchestra in Sofia, Bulgaria, performing Bartók's Second Violin Concerto and Beethoven's Triple Concerto. Other performances include a tour of the United States with the chamber ensemble Sejong Soloists (including a benefit concert at Carnegie's newly renovated Zankel Hall), and solo appearances with the Haddonfield Symphony Orchestra in New Jersey; Kalistos Chamber Orchestra; and The Claflin Hill Orchestra in Boston. Mr. Valtchev came to the United States in 1992 as a full-scholarship student of the renowned violin teacher Dorothy Delay at the Juilliard School, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees.
