Gergana Haralampieva, Violin
Biography
Born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Gergana Haralampieva lived in the Czech Republic for most of her childhood. There she studied the violin with Eva Samselyova in the city of Ostrava. In 2005 the 11-year-old Gergana moved to the United States with her family. She continued her education at the New England Conservatory and the Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Natick, Massachusetts, under the instruction of Farhoud Moshfegh and Paul Biss. In 2012 Gergana began studies with Ida Kavafian at the Curtis Institute of Music. She is a recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award and prizewinner at numerous international violin competitions in Europe and the United States, including Talents for Europe in Slovakia, Kocian in the Czech Republic, the Second Connecticut International Competition for Young Artists, New England String Ensemble’s Concerto Competition, the New England Conservatory’s Concerto Competition, and Cooper International Violin Competition in Oberlin, Ohio.
