Originally from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Hsuan-Min Chang placed first in numerous competitions, including the Mayor International String Competition. She was also awarded first and audience prizes at the Hsinchuang Orchestra Concerto Competition. As a chamber musician, Hsuan-Min and her string quartet have won first place at the Taiwan National Chamber Music Competition. She has studied chamber music with members of the Borromeo, Great Wall, Guarneri, Quartetto Energie Nove, and Tokyo Quartets, and has collaborated with artists such as Nobuko Imai, Martin Beaver, Francesca dePasquale, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, among others. In addition, Hsuan-Min was invited to perform in the Edinburgh, Kaleidoscope, and Moritzburg Festivals. She was the fellowship recipient of the Music Academy of the West, Manchester Music Festival, Heifetz International Music Institute, and Ashkenasi/Kirshbaum Chamber Music Seminar. She currently studies with Ivan Vukcevic and Maxim Vengerov at the Menuhin Academy in Switzerland, and plays on a Bertoli viola generously loaned to her by the Chimei Foundation.
