Biography
InMo Yang recently won top prizes at the 2014 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition, Boston Classical Orchestra’s inaugural Young Artists Competition, and the International Violin Competition “Premio Paganini” in Genoa, Italy, marking the first time since 2006 that the Paganini Competition jury has awarded the first prize. Upcoming debuts include recitals at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, the Rockport Chamber Music Festival, and the Dame Myra Hess Series in Chicago. He will also give a recital in Genoa, Italy, using Paganini’s own Guarneri Del Gesu violin. Anticipated solo appearances next season include with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Danish National Orchestra, Philharmonia Zurich, and Austin Symphony Orchestra. InMo has performed as a concerto soloist with the NDR Radiophilharmonie, Russian Symphony Orchestra, Central Aichi Symphony Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, and the Korean Symphony Orchestra. His festival appearances have included Ishikawa Music Academy, Great Mountains International Music Festival, Japan-Korea Concert for Young Musicians, and Public Concert Academie de Music in Sion. Born in Seoul in 1995, InMo gave his debut recital at age 11 at the Kumho Prodigy Series in Seoul, followed by his orchestral debut two years later. He graduated from the Korean National Institute for the Gifted in Arts and was then admitted into the Korean National University of Arts as a prodigy in music. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at the New England Conservatory, where he studies with Miriam Fried. InMo plays on a Giovanni Tononi violin on loan from RSMI, where he is returning for his second summer.
