Biography
Described as a "Young pianist who is obviously a thinking, serious-minded professional" by G. George of The Statesman in New Delhi, India, pianist Jason Cutmore has performed solo recitals and collaborative concerts throughout North America, Europe and Asia. In 2004 he made his second tour of India, which included solo recitals at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Bombay, the India International Centre in New Delhi, the Alliance Francaise in Bangalore, as well as at venues in Pune, Calcutta and the Woodstock International School in Mussoorie.
During two concert tours in Lithuania, Mr. Cutmore collaborated with pianist Guoda Gedvilaite in concerts of duo and solo piano music at the Thomas Mann Haus Museum in Nida, the Klaipeda Academy of Music, and in Palanga, Siaulai, Telsiai and Druskinikai. Additionally, he has performed in Germany, Calgary, Banff, Edmonton, Chicago, Cleveland, New York City, Oberlin, Princeton, Rochester, and in Purchase, NY where he was honoured to inaugurate the Westchester Philharmonic Orchestra's "Tuning Up" series.
His upcoming engagements in 2006-07 include a concert tour in Hungary with performances at the Liszt Museum in Budapest, and at Bartok Hall in Szombathely. Additionally, 2007 will see the inauguration of a recently-formed duo collaboration with concert organist Daniel Sullivan. Mr. Cutmore and Mr. Sullivan will be performing organ-piano duo repertoire in White Plains, NY and elsewhere this season. On tour, Mr. Cutmore enjoys giving masterclasses, as well as lectures, which provides him with the opportunity to share his love of Spanish music with audiences around the world.
Mr. Cutmore has recorded Manuel de Falla's Nights in the Gardens of Spain with the Edmonton Youth Orchestra, and collaborated with Robert Shannon and Haewon Song on recording the music of George Crumb for Bridge Records. Currently he is preparing his first solo commercial recording, a CD of Manuel de Falla's piano music.
Originally from Edmonton, Canada, where he was a student of pianist and conductor Michael Massey, Mr. Cutmore later moved to New York City to continue his studies with Eleanor Hancock. Mr. Cutmore received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where he was a student of Robert Shannon. Currently he works with Stephanie Brown at the Purchase College Conservatory of Music in New York.
