Je Hye Lee, Violin
Biography
Je Hye Lee began her musical education at the Yewon Arts School, Seoul High School of Arts and continued it at the Korean National University of Arts where she studied with Nam Yun Kim from 2002 till 2005. Since 2007 she is a student of the New England Concervatory (Prof. Miriam Fried) in the USA.
Je Hye Lee performed recitals and played with chamber ensembles in Korea, Switzerland, Israel, Austria, Czech Republic, Spain. She performed as soloist with such orchestras as North Czech Philharmonic, Bilbow Symphony Orchestra (Spain), Mozart Chamber Orchestra (Vienna, Austria), NEC orchestra (Boston, USA) and others. Je Hye Lee participated regularly in international festivals, among them Ishikawa Music Academy (Japan, 2001 – 2005), GMMF Summer Music Festival (Republic of Korea, 2006), Ravinia Festival (USA, 2008, 2009).
She is a winner of many competitions, her most important awards are the Thurd Prize at the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition (United Kingdom, 2004), the Second Prize, Mahler Prize, and Contemporary Music Prize at the “Prague Spring” International Music Competition (String Quartet Section, Czech Republic, 2005). In 2009 she won the First Prize, Chamber Music Prize, and Audience Prize at the Leopold Mozart Competition (Augsburg, Germany).
