Biography
French pianist Jean Dubé began
playing the piano at the age of five and has studied primarily with
Jacques Rouvier and Jacqueline Robin. Now just 21 years old, he has
performed as a soloist and chamber musician on television and radio in
France and abroad. His talents have been acknowledged since the age of
nine when he was invited to open the Mozart Bicentenary, playing
Mozart's Concerto No. 5 with the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra.
In the same year he was unanimously awarded first prize in the 'Jeunes
Prodiges Mozart à Paris' Competition. Jean Dubé was the youngest
graduate ever in the history of the Conservatory of Nice, and at the
age of fourteen he gained the first prize in piano from the National
Superior Conservatory of Paris.
Great success on the
international competition circuit has afforded him educational and
performance opportunities all over the world. He won first prize in the
Francis Poulenc Competition in Brive-La-Gaillarde (1997) and the
Jeunesses Musicales Competition in Bucharest (1998), and second prize
in the Takasaki Art & Music Competition and the Messiaen
Competition in Paris (2000). He was also granted the Yvonne Lefebure
Scholarship at the 2000 Orleans Twentieth Century International Piano
Competition.
Mr. Dubé's most recent
accomplishment was at the 2002 International Franz Liszt Piano
Competition of Utrecht where he was the undisputed winner ot the 6th
edition of thisprestigious competition last April. This First
Prize award includes a CD recording engagement for the international
label Naxos, and over fifty concerts at international music festivals,
with orchestras, and solo and duo recitals in more than twenty
different countries in Europe and North America.
