Biography
Violinist Jee Sun Lee performs as guest soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician throughout the US, Russia, Italy and Korea. Recent appearances of note include chamber music appearance on the Hoch Chamber Music Series at Concordia College, collaborating with Lawrence Dutton and Eugene Drucker of the Emerson Quartet, and solo recitals in the Roerich Museum in New York, An die Musik Live in Maryland, and Windsor Art Center in Connecticut.
Jee Sun Lee began her violin studies at the age of six and made her solo debut with the Korean Chamber Orchestra at the age of nine. As a soloist, Ms. Lee has performed recitals in the US and Korea and played with the Korean Chamber Orchestra, The Ensemble of Soloists Sofia in Russia, Promise Chamber Orchestra and the Bergen Youth Orchestra. She is an active chamber musician, having studied with the Grammy Award-winning Emerson String Quartet, and appeared in chamber music performances with members of the Emerson String Quartet, Manhattan String Quartet, American String Quartet, Sejong Soloists, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. She is a member of the Alacorde Piano Trio which has performed extensively throughout New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. As an orchestra musician, she served as assistant concertmaster of the Westchester Chamber Symphony from 2005 to 2012. Her teachers include Philip Setzer (Emerson Quartet), Pamela Frank and Charles Castleman.
She graduated with honors from the Seoul National University and earned a Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music. In 2006, she finished her Doctor of Musical Arts at Stony Brook University, where she received a full scholarship. Ms. Lee was appointed Director of Chamber Music at the Ramapo College of NJ in 2013 and currently teaches at the College of Saint Elizabeth and Concordia Conservatory.
