Jocelyn Butler (cello) is originally from Kentucky, where she won various prizes in both cello and French horn. She earned Bachelor and Masters degrees from Indiana University, where she studied with Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi and was his teaching assistant. While at I.U., she also studied saxophone. In 2004 she received a 3-year fellowship to the Aspen Music Festival, and was also selected to the Spoleto Music Festival. This fall she will begin her second season as a member of the Chicago Civic Orchestra. Jocelyn is now studying at Roosevelt University with John Sharp, principal cellist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
