Julia Hámos, Piano
Biography
Julia Hámos studies with Richard Goode at the Mannes College of Music. She is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she studied with Christopher Elton, and of the Pre-College Division of Juilliard. Julia has performed at New York’s Steinway Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, Lincoln Center, Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, numerous consulates, and Klavierhaus; London’s Wigmore Hall; Hungary’s Liszt Academy; in Washington, DC, at the Hungarian Embassy and the Kennedy Center; and in Canada, Spain, Germany, and Italy. She won the grand prize at the International Virtuoso Competition in New York in 2014 and the Sterndale Bennett Award at the Royal Academy of Music in 2013. She has recently performed at the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, International Music Seminar at Prussia Cove, and the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival in North Carolina with cellist Amit Peled. Julia has worked with Andras Schiff, Seymour Lipkin, David Dubal, Angela Hewitt, Jonathan Biss, Robert McDonald, and members of the Juilliard and Orion String Quartets. She has been chosen to compete at the Leeds International Piano Competition in England in August 2015.
