Konstantyn Travinsky, Piano
Biography
Born in the Ukraine, Konstantyn Travinsky began exhibiting his natural and exceptional musicality at the early age of 5. During this time Mr. Travinsky was living in the North Caucacus region with his grandparents. When Mr. Travinsky's great potential and precocious musical abilities were realized, he was enrolled in lessons with Natalia Zajtseva. By age 8 he participated in his first competition in Kiev where he won 3rd prize at the 5th City Festival of Children's Music. Residing in Kiev for the next 13 years, Mr. Travinsky continued his studies with Professor Tatiana Chalaya, Professor Olga Sherstyk, and Professor Boris Federov.
In 1999 Mr. Travinsky graduated from the Special Music School named after M. Lysenko. He was then accepted to the Ukrainian National Academy of Music where he received his master's degree in piano performance under the guidance of Professor Boris Federov. While pursuing his degree, Mr. Travinsky received an invitation to continue his artistic career with Professor Vladimir Viardo, 1973 Van Cliburn gold medalist and Artist-ln-Residence at the University of North Texas.
In the fall of 2003, shortly after his arrival in the United States, Mr. Travinsky began participating in his first international competitions held in this country. Within two weeks Mr. Travinsky won 1st prize at the Crescendo Music Competition in Tulsa, Oklahoma; 2nd prize at the Kingsville Concerto Competition, and 1st prize at the Texas Music Teachers' Association Concerto Competition. He is also the 1st prizewinner of the 2004 Wideman Piano Competition in Shreveport, Louisiana.
This year he won 1st prize in the Texas Music Teachers' Association Solo Piano Competition, 3rd prize at the California International Young Artist Competition, and was a finalist in the 1st International Bosendorfer Piano Competition.
Mr. Travinsky has performed in Russia, Ukraine, Greece, Italy and in various cities of the United States.
