Krenare Gashi, Soprano
Biography
Krenare Gashi was born in Prishtina,
Kosovo. She began piano lessons at age 13 and voice lessons one year later.
After qualifying for university admission in 2003 she began her studies in the
music department at the University of Prishtina. In 2004 she transferred to the
Academy of Music in Detmold and studied under Professor Gerhild Romberger.
Ms. Gashi gained experience on the stage in the opera school's productions,
where she sang the part of Daphne in Handel's Apollo and Daphne and the part of Micaëla in Bizet's Carmen. In 2006 she was awarded a
scholarship from the Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation.
In
March 2008, Krenare Gashi performed the part of Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia on the stage of the Frankfurt Opera. This
season with the Chicago Opera Theatre she will sing the part of Micaëla in the
Peter Brook production of Bizet's Carmen. Just recently, Krenare Gashi was
honored with 2nd prize and the Audience Award at the Competizione dell' Opera
in Dresden.
