Linda Hedlund, Violin
Biography
Linda Hedlund graduated from Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts, where she studied with Rainer Küchl, and holds a Doctor of Music degree from the Sibelius-Academy (Finland) where she also has been working as university assistant. Linda Hedlund has appeared as concertmaster at the Pacific Music Festival Japan (1999) with Michael Tilson Thomas and with the Tapiola Sinfonietta (2004).
Ms. Hedlund’s chamber music partners have included members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and cellist Steven Isserlis. She has worked as soloist with conductors Anna-Maria Helsing, Mikk Murdvee, Nazanin Agakhani, Klaus Rautawaara, Shardad Rohani and Rengim Gökmen, and has performed as soloist and chamber musician at many prestigious festivals including the Helsinki Festival, Musica Nova, the Grafenegg Festival, and the Honart Festival. This season she will also perform in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall together with Mr Feldbau. Ms Hedlund also founded the Emäsalo Music Festival in 2007, taking place each summer in southern Finland.
In 2008 the Finnish company Fuga released her acclaimed debut album with sonatas of Franck, Saint-Saëns, and Debussy performed together with German pianist Oliver Kern. Other recordings include works for violin and guitar released in 2011 by Classic Concert Music Group, Austria. She plays a Carlo Antonio Testore violin (1730) kindly provided by the OP-Pohjola Bank Arts Foundation, Finland.
