Misato Yokoyama, classical pianist
Biography
Misato Yokoyama is a Japanese pianist. Born in Obihiro, she studied at the Tokyo University of the Arts and in London at the Royal Academy of Music with Maria Curcio, graduating with distinction and receiving the Best Recital Award. Her debut CD, released in 1997, was acclaimed in various musical magazines and it received HMV Japan's Newcomer Award in 1998. In 2008 she formed the Grand Trio with violinist Takumi Komoriya and cellist Ryoichi Fujimori; they hold regular recitals. Misato Yokoyama has performed as soloist with various symphony orchestras, including the Japan Philarmonic Orchestra, and she has recorded several chamber music and solo CDs.
