Moritz Winkelmann, Piano
Biography
The pianist Moritz Winkelmann has performed with orchestras and festivals throughout his native Germany and was a fellow at Music@Menlo. Solo and concerto appearances have included concert tours of Italy, France, Scotland, Bulgaria, and China. Moritz made his American debut at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and won first prizes at Richard Laugs Beethoven Piano Competition, Baden-Württemberg Tone-Art Competition, Mannheim National Theater Piano Competition, and National Young Musicians Competition in Stuttgart. His recordings have been broadcast on Southern German Culture Radio (SWR2) and WBJC Baltimore Classical Radio. Moritz holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim and is pursuing a master’s degree with Leon Fleisher at the Peabody Conservatory. He holds scholarships from German Academic Exchange Service, Baden-Württemberg Foundation of Arts, and German National Academic Foundation.
