Nancy Zhou, Violin
Biography
Nancy Zhou, born in 1993 and a native of San Antonio, Texas, began violin studies at age four with her father, Long Zhou. Now a student of Miriam Fried at New England Conservatory in the joint A.B./M.M. program with Harvard University, Nancy has performed with major orchestras such as the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Baden-Baden Philharmonie, Finnish Radio Symphony, Helsinki Philharmonic, San Antonio Symphony, and St. Petersburg Philharmonic and has given recitals in Switzerland, Germany, and the U.S. She won first prize at the 2009 Johansen International Competition, received the Rastor Special Prize and was a laureate of the 2010 Sibelius International Violin Competition and the 2012 Queen Elisabeth International Violin Competition. An avid chamber musician, she was a member of the 2012 Verbier Festival Academy and 2008 Aspen Music Festival. She has collaborated with violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter on tour in Europe and Asia.
