Narek Hakhnazaryan, Cello
Biography
Born in Erevan, Armenia into a family of musicians, Narek Hakhnazaryan has been featured in many concerts both with chamber and symphony orchestras. Tours have taken him throughout Russia, the United States, Canada, Europe, Great Britain, and Asia. In 2008 he performed solo recitals in Carnegie Hall and at the Kennedy Center.
Among his many competition successes are First Prize in the 4th Johansen International Competition, First Prize and the Gold Medal in the Khachaturian International Competition in Armenia, and second prize in the Gyeongnam International Music Competition of South Korea. In 2007 Narek was a prize winner in the XIII Tchaikovsky International Competition in Russia. This summer, he participates for a second year in the Steans Institute for Young Artists at the Ravinia Festival.
From 1996-2000 Narek Hakhnazaryan studied at the Sayat-Nova School of Music with Zareh Sargsian. In 2000 he entered the School of Music at the Moscow Conservatory's Academic Musical College. Currently he is a student at the Moscow State Conservatory. Narek has participated in master classes given by the renowned musicians such as Rostropovich.
