Biography
A native of Riga, Latvia, Russian-born pianist Natasha Mah is a laureate of the 54th annual Wideman International Piano Competition held in Shreveport, Louisiana. As the recipient of a special performance prize, she will be appearing in recital next season at the Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C. Natasha received both Bachelor (magna cum laude) and Master of Music degrees from Northwestern University as a student of Sylvia Wang and Alan Chow. Additionally, she studied accompanying with Elizabeth Buccheri and participated in master classes given by Malcolm Martineau and Krassimira Jordan. While at Northwestern, Natasha was a winner of the school concerto competition and subsequently performed Lowell Liebermann's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra. She has also been a winner of competitions held by the Kankakee Valley and Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestras, having appeared as concerto soloist with both ensembles. Natasha has collaborated with internationally renowned vocal artists Jane Bunnell, Marc Embree, Sherrill Milnes and the late William Warfield. She has taught and accompanied at the National High School Music Institute at Northwestern University and the Hartwick College Summer Music Festival & Institute in Oneonta, NY. Currently a staff vocal accompanist at DePaul University in Chicago, Natasha recently completed a term as visiting lecturer of music at Northwestern University.
