An Okinawan-Japanese pianist, Norito Irei, has performed at prominent venues in Japan, Europe and the United States. Irei was introduced to Prof. Hitomi Itokazu at age 10. Under Itokazu's apprenticeship, he achieved gold medals in PETINA-Okinawa and two honorable mentions in Okinawa-Island Young Artist Competitions. He furthered his pianistic study in America where he studied with Margarita Shevchenko (Winner, Cleveland International Piano Competition), Kathryn Brown (CIM), Gabriel Chodos (NEC) and Tian Ying (Van Cliburn winner). He also began collaborating with both domestic and internatinal players including Zsolt Eder (Topeka Symphony), Daniel Andai (Miami Symphony Orchestra), Ashley Garritson (Miami City Ballet) and David Pedraza (Vitali String Quartet). He holds degrees from Cleveland Institute of Music (MM), Alfred Cortot Ecole Normale de Musique (Chamber Music - Piano) and University of Miami - Frost School of Music. He received honorable mentions in MTNA Competition, and held a second place for University of Miami Concerto Competition 2010 - Piano Division.
