Olya Prohorova is a russian-born Moldavian violinist. She started her violin studies at age of five at “Ciprian Porumbescu” republican music lyceum with Iulia Cazacu, then continued with Svetlana Balaescul, head of strings at the same school. Currently, Olga is studies with Mark Lakirovich, concert artist, at Chicago College of Performing Arts, Roosevelt University. She is a laureat of the following national and international competitions: “Zlata Tkach” (Moldova, 1st prize) , “Eugen Koka” (Moldova, 3rd prize) , “Mihail Kliofas Oginski” (Belarus, 2nd prize) , “Cornelia Bronzetti” (Romania, 3rd prize) , “Nedealka Semeonova” (Bulgaria, 3rd prize) , “Dobrin Petkov” (Bulgaria,2nd prize) , “George Georgescu” (Romania, Grand Prix 2010), “Russian Music Virtuosi” (Moldova, 2nd prize). Most recently, she has recieved a scholarship award from the North Shore Music club in Illinois. Olga has performed as a soloist with diverse symphonic and chamber orchestras from Moldova – National Chamber OrganHall Orchestra, National Philharmonic Orchestra, “Teleradio Moldova” Symphony Orchestra. Among her orchestral experience there are “Orchestre de la Francophonie”, (Montreal, Canada - section player),CEI Youth Orchestra (Europe - second violin leader), CCPA Baroque Orchestra - concermaister, CCPA Chamber Orchestra - concertmaister. Ms. Prohorova has participated in master-classes of world-famous musicians, such as Kristof Barati (Hungary), Eduard Grach (Russia), Eduard Kuchinski (Belarus), Vadim Gluzman (USA, Israel), Yuan-Qing Yu (China, USA), Ken Aiso (Japan, UK), MingHuan Xu (China, USA), Richard Hirschl (USA)
