Patil Zakarian, Piano
Biography
Pianist, composer, arranger, and music teacher, with a first-class honours degree in English language and literature, graduating first in her class.
Laureate of the Gulf International Chopin Piano Competition, the Kuwait International Chopin Piano Competition (2010), and F. Liszt Grand Prix, upon which she was awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland to attend a master course in Warsaw under the tutelage of Janusz Olejniczak, and a recital marking the 200th anniversary of the birth of F. Chopin.
Patil Zakarian is an awardee of the Golden Key Composition Competition in New York (2012) for her piano composition: Suite of Dances of Harvest, with an invitation to perform it in Ehrbar Saal in Vienna. Her music has been performed in the UK, France, Netherlands, Kuwait, Poland, Bulgaria, and broadcast during radio programmes. In 2017, one of her piano works, Bloozjan, was released in the CD of Dutch jazz-pianist Marcel Worms.
Apart from performance and compositional work, Patil Zakarian is a skilled piano teacher, lauded by parents and students alike for her engaging teaching style, efficiency and enthusiasm. With one of her earliest piano pupils recently accepted at Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA, she fervently hopes that others will follow suit.
