After an exciting and well-received debut season, the newly established Philomusica Quartet continues into their second year as resident string quartet of the Wisconsin Conservatory in Milwaukee, WI. In the 2009-10 season, highlights will include Barber, Tchaikovsky, Borodin, and Mendelssohn quartets, as they explore the rich and diverse repertoire of this vital genre.
In the fall of 2008, violinists Alexander Mandl and Jeanyi Kim, violist Nathan Hackett, and cellist Adrien Zitoun came together for one purpose: to create an artistic outlet in which they could express and share their love of performing chamber music. Each member brings a wealth of diverse experience as a performer and educator, both locally and internationally. During its initial seasons, the Philomusica Quartet has performed throughout Wisconsin, at Yale University and has been broadcast by WFMT as the Quintessence Piano Quintet in broadcast from the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series. Mandl and Kim, a husband-and-wife team, equally exchange roles as first and second violins in the Philomusica Quartet.
