Rina Dokshitsky, Piano
Biography
Pianist Rina Dokshitsky began her studies in Israel, performing at age 13 as soloist with the Israel Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta. She later studied with Russell Sherman at the New England Conservatory, earning her Bachelor's and Master's degrees and winning the conservatory's concerto competition.
Her numerous awards include first prize in the International Competition for Young Pianists in Senigallia (Italy), first prize in the 1985 Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra's Young Artists Competition, the 1987 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, the silver medal in the 1989 Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Israel, and the Canada Israel Cultural Foundation Award.
Ms. Dokshitsky participated in chamber music concerts for three seasons at the Spoleto Festivals of South Carolina and Italy and has a busy career as a collaborative artist. Concert tours have taken her to Italy, Spain, Israel and Central America, as well as across the United States. Since 1995 she has been a collaborative pianist at the Steans Institute for Young Artists at the Ravinia Festival.
