Biography

Violinist Robyn Bollinger made her Philadelphia Orchestra debut at age twelve. Since then she has performed with many orchestras throughout the United States, including the Grand Tetons Music Festival Orchestra and the Aspen Music Festival. Robyn has been featured on PRI’s “Performance Today” and has appeared multiple times on NPR’s “From the Top.” She has performed in prestigious venues in Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, Boulogne-sur-Mer (France), Weimar (Germany), and Queenstown (New Zealand).

Robyn has received top prizes at the Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists in France, the Louis Spohr International Competition in Germany, the Kingsville International Competition, the Aspen Music Festival Violin Competition, the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Competition, the Albert M. Greenfield Competition and the Blount-Slawson International Competition. She has also been recognized with special prizes for her performances of Bach and Beethoven at several competitions.  Most recently, she was awarded a prestigious Entrepreneurial Grant from New England Conservatory for her ground-breaking "Project Paganini," a solo performance project featuring all twenty-four Paganini Caprices in combination with a multi-media historical presentation.

Robyn is also a dedicated chamber musician.  She is a former member of the Newman String Quartet, which took the silver medal at the 2007 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. She has collaborated with the Jupiter Chamber Players at Lincoln Center, the Symphony in C String Quartet, and members of the Philadelphia Orchestra.  Robyn has also participated in honors chamber music ensembles at the Aspen Music Festival and is the only second-generation alumna of the Taos School of Music, one of the oldest chamber music festivals in the United States.

Born in Philadelphia in 1991, Robyn is currently the recipient of the Laurence Lesser Presidential Scholarship at the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, MA, where she is pursuing her Bachelor’s degree as a student of Miriam Fried.  Her former teachers include Soovin Kim, Paul Kantor, Kurt Sassmannshaus, Linda Fiore, Yumi Ninomiya Scott, and Kimberly Fisher.  Robyn plays a 1969 Giuseppe Peresson violin.
