Ruth Lin was bom in Zhang Zhou, China. She immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of ten. Ms. Lin began playing the piano at the age of five and has since continued her musical education at Northwestern University. Ms. Lin has performed as the concerto competition winner with the West Suburban Symphony Orchestra and the Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra. Her piano teachers include Julia Tsien, Alan Chow and Sylvia Wang. As a conductor, Ms. Lin is the Founding Director and Conductor of the Good Samaritan Symphony Orchestra, a group of student musicians and free-lance musicians who give two free concerts annually.
Ms. Lin also works as a free-lance conductor and serves as the Assistant Conductor of Waukegan Symphony Orchestra and North Suburban Community Orchestra. She is currently pursuing her Doctoral Degree in Orchestra Conducting at Northwestern University under the direction of Victor Yampolsky.
