Biography
Shih-Kai Lin, violin, was first prize and audience choice award winner of the 2006 Houston Symphony Ima Hogg Young Artist Competition, leading to his debut with the Houston Symphony Orchestra under Hans Graf and Rebecca Miller. This year he represents the Juilliard School with his string trio in the John F. Kenney Center Conservatory Project Concert Series. A fellow at the Aspen Music Festival and School from 2003 to 2007, he received scholarships as an outstanding musician from Taiwan’s Chi-Mei Cultural Foundation in 2004 and 2006 and from the Young Musical Scholars Foundation in 2005 for his musical and academic achievements. Other awards include a scholarship from the Boston Musical Society as a young talented musician. Mr. Lin received an Advance Certificate with Distinction from the associated board of England’s Royal Schools of Music in 2000. He was the recipient of the Yale Book Award and was admitted as a fellow of the Cum Laude Society at the Walnut Hill School of the Arts. Born in Taiwan, he began musical studies at age four. He is currently a graduate student at Juilliard, studying with Cho- Liang Lin and Naoko Tanaka.
