Biography
A
musician of unusual diversity and talent, keyboardist/conductor Terree Lee
Shofner made her Orchestra Hall debut in 1995 as pianist in Gershwin's Rhapsody In Blue.
Holding
a Master's degree from Louisiana State University and her Doctorate from the
University of Wisconsin, Dr. Shofberjoined the faculty of North Park University
in 1989. Since then she has established herself as one of Chicago's premier
pianists; both as a soloist and as an accompanist. Dr. Shoffier has appeared
throughout the South, Southeast and Midwest as soloist in concertos with major
orchestras, chamber concerts and solo recitals. In addition to her solo
performances, she also frequently appears in recital playing piano duos with
pianist Pawel Checinski.
Dr.
Shofher is also pianist for the CSO & CSO Chorus where she has worked with
many of the world's
leading conductors, including Barenboim, Solti, Ozawa, Levine, Chailly, Boulez
and Eschenbach.
During
Dr. Shofher's summer stints with the CSO
at Ravinia, she has rehearsed with violinists Miriam
Freed and Gil Shaham, and, most recently, with bass-baritone Bryn Terfel.
Earlier
this year Dr. Shother made her opera conducting debut, conducting Ralph Vaughan
Williams' Riders to the Sea and
the world-premier of Philip Seward's Spreading the News. Her other conducting experience includes both
classical and musical theater.
Dr. Shofher lives in Arlington Heights where she
spends her spare time as a synagogue organist, vocal coach, bicyclist, and some-times
gardener.
