Thelma Hunter, Piano
Biography
Thelma Hunter was raised in a family who was actively engaged in the musical life of new York, her native city. Before joining the music faculty of the University of Minnesota in 1947, she received he BA from Cornell University and her MA and the coveted Artist Diploma from the Eastman School of Music. She has been active on the board of the major music organizations in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area, and currently serves on the Board of the American Composers Forum and the Advisory Board of the School of Music, University of Minnesota. She's committed to the creation and performance of new music, and has participated in many premiers as soloist and in ensemble. She's featured on the recent recording issued by the Schubert Club of Saint Paul of solo piano music titled "The Music of my Life." Mrs. Hunter has a busy career as a chamber musician and recitalist and is particularly enthusiastic to be performing with family members for this event.
