Tina Beverly, Soprano
Biography
Soprano Tina Beverly made her Lyric Opera of Chicago debut this past season as Frantik/The Cunning Little Vixen and finished the season "dazzling the audience" with Zerbinetta's recitative and aria from Richard Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos in the Rising Stars concert under Sir Andrew Davis. Her many leading roles onstage have included Olympia/Les contes d'Hoffmann, Susanna/Le nozze di Figaro, Countess Adèle/Le Comte Ory, Tytania/A Midsummer Night's Dream, Adina/L'elisir d'amore, and just last summer, with LOCAA and the Northwest Indiana Symphony, Adele/Die Fledermaus.
Last spring Ms. Beverly was awarded first prize in the Musicians' Club of Women's Vocal Competition, receiving the Lynne Angel Harvey Scholarship. She also placed second in the Union League Civic & Arts Foundation Competition. She has appeared in leading roles with Indianapolis Opera, Florentine Opera in Milwaukee, Brevard Music Center, Aspen Music Festival, DuPage Opera Theater, and the Rome Opera Festival. She has also been heard in a duet recital at Italy's Spoleto Festival. Ms. Beverly has performed as a fellow with Stony Brook's Bach Aria Festival & Institute (New York), as an Apprentice Artist with the Des Moines Metro Opera Young Artists Program, and as Resident Soprano Artist with the Indianapolis Opera Ensemble.
The Chicago native, who performs frequently in recital throughout the area, has appeared locally with Music of the Baroque, DuPage Symphony Orchestra, University of Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and with the Handel Week Festival of Oak Park in the American premiere of Handel's opera Siroe.
