Weiwen Ma, Piano
Biography
Weiwen Ma, pianist and native of Shanghai, China, has been described by her teacher, world celebrated pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi as “(She) plays with flare and technical prowess. Her keyboard skills are remarkable.”
Since a young age, she has been invited to perform numerous concerts at China's most prestigious venues, notably Shanghai Concert Hall and Shanghai Great Grand Theater. After winning the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) concerto competition, she performed with the CIM orchestra in February 2009, followed by her Carnegie Hall Weill Recital Hall debut in May 2009 as the winner of the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition.
After winning a Bronze medal at the First Chinese International Piano competition, she had her first appearance at The Town Hall in Manhattan in 2008. She is also the prize winner of many other international piano competitions including The World Piano Competition, Corpus Christi International Competition for Piano & Strings, Kankakee Young Artist Piano Competition, and Thousand Islands Piano Competition.
Currently, Ms.Ma is studying with George Vatchnadtze at DePaul School of Music in a Performance Certificate Degree program. Shortly after she moved to Chicago in the fall of 2014, her debut recital in Chicago was performed at PianoForte Foundation "Salon Series". It was broadcast live on WFMT 98.7 and streamed on YouTube Live in March, 2015.
