Yaegy Park, Violin
Biography
Violinist Yaegy Park was born in Houston, Texas, and was recognized as a rising young violinist when she joined the Houston Young Artists at age 4, the foundation’s youngest member in history. She then performed in local hospitals and nursing homes with the HYAC, developing a passion for community service through music. Under the mentorship of Kyung Sun Lee, Ms. Park was named a Jack Kent Cooke Artist and performed on the NPR program “From the Top”. She went to Germany in 2009 and won 3rd place in the Louis Spohr International Competition. In 2010, she took 1st place in the International Russian Rotary Children’s Music Competition and American Protégé International Competition.
Ms. Park was accepted to the Pre-College Division of the Juilliard School, under the tutelage of Catherine Cho in 2011. During this time, she won top prizes in such competitions as the International Virtuoso Competition, the YWCA New York Music Competition, the NY Chamber Players Competition, and the Stulberg International Competition in 2015, which has given her performances with orchestras like the Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Temple Symphonies and the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra. The same year, she was named a YoungArts finalist and had her Carnegie Hall debut with the Foundation for the Revival of Classical Culture. Currently, she is a G.rium Artist, sponsored by SK Chemical, giving her recital opportunities in South Korea until 2018.
Ms. Park is also an avid chamber musician. She is part of the Eva Quartet at the Juilliard School participating in community outreach projects in collaboration with Daniel’s Music Foundation. She is currently a third year BM student at Juilliard and uses a Zygmuntowicz violin on loan from the Maestro Foundation.
