Yegor Shevtsov
Biography
Pianist Yegor Shevtsov enjoys a multi-faceted career as a solo performer, chamber musician, collaborator and educator. His performances have been singled out for their “Mozartean elegance,” “perfect lucidity” (New York Times) and “superb musicianship” (Miami Herald). His recent notable engagements include concerto performances at Symphony Space (New York), Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, the National Theater in Taipei, and Auditorio de Ciudad de León (Spain). His numerous solo recitals have included music ranging from Rameau and Scarlatti to many composers of his generation. His recent recording of the piano music of Claude Debussy and Pierre Boulez was selected by rhapsody.com as one of the top 25 classical albums of 2013.
Mr. Shevtsov’s most significant artistic associations have been with baritone, Mischa Bouvier; world-renowned choreographer, Mark Morris; Red Light New Music; New World Symphony; American Ballet Theatre, and avant-garde composers Reiko Fueting, Yoav Gal, Andrew Noble and Scott Wollschleger. He has also performed with members of renowned ensembles, including the American String Quartet, and the International Contemporary Ensemble, among many others. Composers who have heard Yegor perform their works include Pierre Boulez, John Luther Adams, Elliott Carter, Charles Wuorinen, Steve Reich and George Crumb.
He serves on the faculty of the Manhattan School of Music and the MSM Precollege Division. He studies flamenco in the studio of Soledad Barrio. www.yegorshevtsov.com
