Violist Yukiko Ogura received a bachelor's degree from the Kyoto City University of the Arts in 1995. As both violinist and violist, she participated in masterclasses by the Amadeus and Toyko String Quartets. In 1998 she focused fully on viola with the help of Mazumi Tanamura and Nobuko Imai. Ms. Ogura moved to the U.S. in 2002 to continue viola study at the Chicago College of Performing Arts with Li-Kuo Chang. She served as principal violist of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and was appointed to the viola section of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in May 2001. She also appears regularly at the Winter Chamber Music Festival at Northwestern University.
