Zlatomir Fung, Cello
Biography
Cellist Zlatomir Fung won gold medals at the 2015 Johansen Competition for Young String Players, 2014 Stulberg String Competition and 29th Irving Klein Competition. He was a top prize winner at the 20th International Brahms Competition in Portschach, Austria in 2013, and at the Seventh International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in Montreux-Vevey, Switzerland. He has appeared on NPR’s From the Top six times. Zlatomir studies with Richard Aaron and Julie Albers.
Zlatomir was also the winner of the 2014 Aspen Music Festival Lower Strings Competition and the 2014 Boston Symphony Concerto Competition. He has performed with the Boston Pops, Santa Cruz Symphony, Grand Rapids Symphony, Symphony Pro Musica, Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, AACA and the Lausanne Sinfonietta.
Zlatomir has performed at venues such as Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall, the Tsai Performance Center, the Benedict Music Tent, Harris Hall and Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall. He is an avid chamber music player and has performed with the Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players and the Walden Chamber Players. Zlatomir also took part in the Finckel-Wu Han Chamber music studio at the Aspen Music Festival and School in 2014 and 2015.
Outside of music, Zlatomir enjoys philosophy, literature, and plays chess competitively.
