William Zucker was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. where he has always lived. He has been associated with music from a very early age, having had his
first piano lessons at four.
He continued with his training at the piano for a possible concert
career, when in his late teens he decided to turn to creative work and
concentrated more on composition. He studied
at the Manhattan School of Music and the Juilliard School. Among the
teachers he had contact with were Robert Starer, Jacob Druckman, Hugo
Weisgall, Vincent Persichetti,
Robert Abramson, Frederick Werle, and most recently, Michael Schumacher.
At present, he works as an accompanist for singers, instrumentalists,
and dancers. He also
writes essays on music which he shares with his colleagues. Occasionally he presents
some of his work in live concerts.
